The
Annual Solon Italian Club Christmas Party was held on Sunday,
December 4th at the Solon
Community Center.
Children and Grandchildren of members attended and participated. Gifts were
presented by Santa Claus to children, 10 and under.
La
Befana visited the party in search of the Baby Jesus. She stayed long enough to
tell her story to the children in attendance and pass out bags of sweet treats
to the kids before continuing on her journey.
The
Solon High School Madrigals performed for the more than 100 people in
attendance with a medley of Christmas songs. Special thanks to director Gary
Lewis for adjusting the group’s schedule to perform for the party.
As
in past years, there was the collection of food, toiletries, personal care
products and recreational goods to be sent to our troops overseas. Members of the Italian Club of Solon High
School were on hand at this year’s event to help, too.
The
Club plans to continue its contributions to the troops as it has done,
year-round at our monthly meetings, the Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas party.
